Possibly "Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Old Oak Tree" is way before your time, Rabbi... It

was Top 40 in 1973... I was 14.. 51 years ago, how time flies when you're having FUN!

That's where the contemporary Yellow Ribbon fetish actually came from: 🤔 Quite innocuous, really.

Before my time, but it seems the origins go back a bit farther...

Either way, there's nothing innocuous about propaganda, especially when the stakes are as high as can be.

Is there a way to download the video clip to my computer? I usually save pictures and videos from your mails, but I don't know how to do this here on Substack. Could you please post a link? Thanks!!

I would to take the opportunity to recommend the piece you mention above "The Halachos of Siren Observance." Assimilation is one thing, but trying to pass off the assimilation as "Jewish?" No. As we approach Hanukkah, the holiday which is supposed to commemorate a victory in the battle against assimilation, may we please take the opportunity to reflect on this.
